Redo Part 1

It has taken me FOR-EV-ER to finish the kids rooms. We started in March with the construction, and it was done pretty fast, but it has taken me so long to paint everything that needs to be painted. I'm still not totally done with the other room. But I am telling myself it has to be done before I start making anything baby. So it gives me a deadline....
Anyway, what used to be Lex's room -and never really got "finished" when we moved in- turned in to Evey's room and soon she will share with her littlest brother. So really this room still isn't complete either.

My dad is the original mastermind behind this bed design. He built one for my brother once so he could fit all of his guitars and trap set in his small room. Jon is the mastermind behind the cubby stairs. And I contributed with the desk design. And Jon is the lone (plus 4 little helpers) carpenter for this whole room overhaul. He has built things before, but has never really taken on this kind of project by himself. He took much care and pride in building everything so that it looks fabulous and is sturdy. I am super proud of him!! And the kids absolutely love their new beds and rooms.
(pics of the other room to come in near future...really really!)

Stalking 101

A little background on this video...
The group had originally agreed on a comedy about
a stalker who's interest was dating a serial killer.
The director, who cast the movie, ended up changing
it so that it wasn't a comedy anymore and turned into
a suspense.

Jon knew this while filming and most everyone else in
the group was annoyed, but they went with it to complete
the project.
The director's version went like this:
Guy stalks girl,
girls falls in park and guy goes to help but is beat to it by Guy 2,
guy figures out guy 2 is a serial killer,
guy saves girl from said killer,
girl figures out guy has been stalking her,
guy gets girl....

Jon was also shocked at the acting ability of the
"actors" the director cast. In a bad way.

Each member of the group was given all of the video
files and was to make their own edit of the movie.

Jon said everyone in the group stuck to the directors
story even though they hated it.

Jon however didn't. He decided to make a mockery of the
whole thing...

Spoiled!

We decided to get Jon a new laptop for his birthday.
This would help dramatically in his field of study.
So a few days before his birthday he went to apple.com
and picked out his computer, added a few upgrades and
went through the motions of making the purchase.
After entering out bank card number he received a message
that the payment hadn't gone through...WHAT! So he tried
using my card, his expiration date was nearing, still the
payment didn't go through, so we called the bank.

Apparently we have a daily maximum purchase amount
that helps in case someone gets a hold of a card.
Oh, yeah, I knew that! It's a great thing, on the off chance
something like that happens, however for an excited guy
wanting to buy his computer, it's not so great. He had to
go into the branch to up his daily limit. There they told him
it would take 24-48 hrs to take effect. More waiting! He
ended up trying the next day even though I told him, the
banks always take the maximum amount of time!

So the next day when the 48 hrs were up he planned on
making the purchase. He happened to hear in class that
morning, that Apple was planning to release a new
MacBook Pro within the next month that had 40% faster
processors. However Apple keeps things pretty well
under wraps (probably so that when their new stuff comes
out they can watch Microsoft and other companies scramble
to try to compete, it must be a fun show in the computer world!)
so he wasn't sure what and when this rumored new
computer was going to grace the world with it's presence.

Anyway, it took a bit, but a couple weeks later he heard
that for Steve Jobs' birthday they would release the new
MacBooks. Happy birthday Steve, here's another BILLION
dollars! So, We gave Mr. Jobs a nice chunk of moolah for
his birthday and in return Jon got a pretty nice, late, birthday present.
Thank you spending limit for not allowing Jon to purchase the older computer.

I am now supposed to tell you how nice in terms of geek specs...
MacBook Pro 17-inch
2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 (updated from 2.2GHz )
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB (updated from 4GB)
750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 RPM
Don't ask me what all that jargon means, super fast computer,
blah, blah... and I'm sure most of you won't know either,
but for my cutie hubby's sake and the sake of
those who know and are wondering, There I posted it.

He ordered it within the minute it became available. It was
pretty funny watching him watch the site as they updated it.
Then came the waiting for it to be shipped. It wasn't the normal
"within 24 hrs" because he got the upgrades. So it was then
funny to watch him track his package from China, freak when
it went from Ill to Tenn, then get so excited when it was finally
on the truck for delivery. So as I said in a previous post, He got
his birthday present on March 2 at 3pm, a month after his birthday.
But, he was still as gitty as a school girl when it showed up.

Winter Blessing

It was a super special day on March 28th. Not only was it Evey's
birthday, but Jon was able to bless Winter. The chapel was
pretty full that day, there were 2 other babies being blessed
and with everyone's family we filled and overflowed all sections
of the overflow. We were thankful to have as many family
members as were able and a few special friends there to share
in this special day!

This was Jon's first time blessing one of our kids (Evey, Paris
and Lex were all blessed by very special friends and family),
but did an awesome job. He didn't sound nervous at all. Some
of the things he blessed her with were:
Wisdom to be able to discern right from wrong,
The courage to be able to choose the right all the days of her life,
Health, to be able to grow in strength and beauty
Her talents be manifested and shown to all the world
Blessed to be an example to her friends and family
And to live and grow in righteousness

I'm so proud of Jon and the awesome daddy and hubby he is.
And for his worthiness to hold the priesthood and bless our lives
and that we share in the knowledge that our family will be
together forever.

Thank you to Amber and Abe for the precious bracelet!

I so need studio lighting! Just a mounted Speedlite and some lamps,
just don't cut it! Some pictures are blurry because I had to use a slow
shutter speed (tear).

The big Three zero!

Jon turned 30 on Monday. He didn't really want to
celebrate, so we kept it simple. We made yummy
breakfast before school, Jon played hookie, we hung
out at home ( Jon got 2 new Wii games, so he played
those), saw Evey's dance show and then went to a late
movie. We took Winter to see Sherlock Holmes, she
was perfect!

Since we knew we'd be at the dance show, we did
homemade (not very pretty) ice cream cupcakes on Sunday
night.

Church Ball

This year the men in the ward decided
to play on Thanksgiving Morning rather
than the night before like last year. I
guess playing under the lights was too
much hassle. Woosies! So Jon, Kurt,
and Jason joined in the fun. Paris loves
when Jason comes in town, and so had
to go with us. They're best buds!

Kurt snagged a touch down right away!!

I'm not sure, but I think this is Jon getting a TD too!

Just some good blocking action.

Jasons favorite position. QB!

Kurt for another good run.

And Again. We all wonder why he didn't stick with football.

Jon for another Touchdown!

And then the kick off.

Jon looks like a beast!!

Family Sh-mamily ! ... Got to get the ball!!

Of course Paris needed some camera time.
